MEAL Casual Worker – Aleppo

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Syria is looking for a casual MEAL worker in Aleppo to support monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) activities in the North area. The position is a 6-month contract at casual-worker salary level, with an expected start date as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out quantitative and qualitative data collection in the field for needs assessments and monitoring across DRC areas of operation in the North (Aleppo, Hama, Homs, Idleb).
• Support data entry (e.g. KOBO) and data cleaning.
• Perform other MEAL duties as requested by the Area Manager and MEAL Officer.
• Archive hard-copy and electronic documents used during implementation.
• Attend trainings on survey content and data collection methodology.
• Coordinate regularly with the Programme departments of the North Area Office on data collection work plans and priorities.
• Ensure activities comply with DRC accountability principles and contribute to raising awareness of the Community Feedback Mechanism during data collection.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in data collection and cleaning.
• University or technical institute degree in economics, administration, business management, finance, international relations, development studies, computer science or another field with years of relevant experience.
• Fluent Arabic, written and spoken; good written English.
• Experience developing M&E tools and excellent report writing skills.
• Willingness to adapt work practices and hours and to work in an insecure environment.

• Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, Teams, web research)
• Data collection and cleaning, data entry (e.g. KOBO)
• Good interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural setting
