MNCH Coordinator

About the role

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is recruiting an MNCH Coordinator based at its Damascus headquarters. The coordinator implements maternal, newborn and child health services and activities at SARC health facilities and reports to the manager of the health projects unit, under the guidance of the Director of the Health Department.

Key responsibilities

• Develop goals, objectives, strategies, budgets and implementation plans for the MNCH project, and prepare documentation for project review and approval.
• Plan and collaborate with internal and external partners to set monitoring and performance indicators, and prepare regular project reports for the medical department director, the health projects unit manager and partners.
• Monitor the project through field visits and information exchange with branches and health facilities, and act on identified problems in consultation with the director of the medical health department.
• Provide technical and operational support so that referrals are integrated into existing SARC health facilities.
• Contribute to standard operating procedures and strategy development for the medical department.
• Build partnerships with SARC departments, PNSs, UN agencies and national partners through networking, advocacy and communication.
• Represent SARC in inter-agency meetings and discussions on MNCH, and develop and deliver training and capacity-building activities for MNCH field staff.

Required profile

• Degree in gynaecology, paediatrics or medicine with a public health master's degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of management and clinical experience with a record of success in MNCH; experience in project management, assessments, monitoring and report writing preferred.
• Fluent Arabic and good command of written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.
