Technical Coordinator - Community Services and Protection

About the role

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent is recruiting a Technical Coordinator for its Community Services and Protection team, based at the SARC headquarters in Abou Remmaneh, Damascus, with frequent field visits. The post reports to the Community Services and Protection Manager and provides technical support to the team and ensures the quality of community services.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and document Plans of Action, training and implementation plans, and reporting and monitoring and evaluation systems; review and support project and programme planning, including mainstreaming protection in core sectors such as Health, CASH and Livelihood
• Support capacity building: develop session plans and teaching tools, contribute to the yearly training plan, implement it, and follow up on learning in the field
• Monitor progress of activities through regular field visits and, with the reporting and MEAL teams, develop monitoring and evaluation plans, data collection tools and key performance indicators
• Provide technical support and supervision to the team, review reports and give feedback, and support the regional branch in mapping services and developing referral SOPs with case managers
• Promote standardization following IFRC, RCRC, IASC and SPHERE guidelines and mainstream Protection, Gender and Inclusion standards
• Keep HQ informed, maintain relationships with partners such as UN agencies and NGOs, and carry out other tasks assigned by HQ management

Required profile

• MA or MSc in Psychology or a related discipline
• Fluent Arabic and English, spoken and written
• 3 years of field experience in psychology and psychosocial support
• Understanding of the psychological impact of conflict and disaster on beneficiaries, staff and volunteers
• Knowledge of protection principles and interventions with persons at risk, including GBV survivors
• Experience managing and supporting staff and volunteers; Red Cross/Red Crescent or other humanitarian experience is an asset

Required skills

• Good communication and coordination skills
• Self-supported computer skills (Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Project management experience is an asset
