Planning Survey Lead – Telecom Infrastructure

About the role

The Planning Survey Lead will drive field surveys and site walkouts for underground and aerial fiber‑optic routes, ensuring accurate data collection and high‑quality engineering documentation. This senior position supports fiber network expansion and transformation initiatives across telecom projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise field surveys and site walkouts for fiber‑optic network routes.
• Review and verify site assessments, mapping terminals, duct routes, and fiber allocation requirements.
• Develop and finalize OSP engineering designs and planning layouts using GIS tools.
• Translate survey findings into constructible technical drawings and route designs.
• Identify obstacles, terrain limitations, utility conflicts, and ROW constraints to optimise routing.
• Prepare and coordinate permitting documentation with local authorities.
• Produce Transmission Site Survey Reports, Bills of Quantities, route sketches, and as‑built documentation.
• Maintain GIS records, survey databases, and technical documentation throughout project execution.
• Coordinate with construction teams, project managers, engineering departments, vendors, and clients.
• Monitor survey progress, report risks, and ensure compliance with telecom standards and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
• 12‑16 years of experience in telecom infrastructure, OSP planning, survey management, or fiber network deployment.
• Strong understanding of telecom OSP fiber networks, route planning, GIS mapping, and ROW requirements.
