OP Technician – Operating Room Technician

About the role

We are seeking an OP Technician to support surgical procedures in our operating rooms. The successful candidate will ensure that the theatre is fully prepared, maintain sterility, and assist the surgical team throughout each operation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment and supplies before each surgery.
• Verify sterilization status and integrity of instrument packaging.
• Assist patients in preparation for surgery according to medical team instructions.
• Support the surgical team during procedures, including passing instruments as a Scrub Technician.
• Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic techniques throughout the operation.
• Count instruments, gauze and materials before, during and after procedures.
• Handle contaminated instruments and transfer them safely to the sterilization area.
• Apply infection prevention and control measures and use PPE correctly.
• Report shortages of supplies, equipment malfunctions or safety incidents.
• Clean and organize the operating room after each case and document required information.

Required profile

• Health‑technical qualification or equivalent education suitable for operating‑room work.
• 0‑2 years of experience in an operating room setting.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment and their proper use.
• Understanding of sterilization processes and infection‑control principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, respond to emergencies and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to patient safety.
• Willingness to work shift schedules.
