Pharmacist (Humanitarian)

About the role

The Independent Doctors Association (IDA) seeks a qualified Pharmacist to manage pharmacy operations at its Alraqaa health facility in northern Syria. This position supports the delivery of essential medicines to displaced and host communities while adhering to humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the pharmacy functions safely, securely, and efficiently, maintaining proper storage and handling of all pharmaceutical inventory.
• Implement and update the storage card system, calculate monthly orders (monthly consumption + safe stock – remaining quantity), and prevent stockouts.
• Submit accurate monthly inventory reports to the supervisor and maintain up‑to‑date inventory lists.
• Conduct quality‑assurance procedures, including temperature control, hygiene checks, and pest control.
• Provide timely medication dispensing to the health team and manage drug delivery documentation.
• Support medical waste management in line with local regulations and supervise cleaning staff within the pharmacy unit.
• Report security concerns, infection risks, or any operational difficulties to the facility manager.
• Uphold patient confidentiality, dignity, and the organization’s humanitarian and protection principles.

Required profile

• Certificate in Pharmacy.
• Minimum five years of experience in pharmacy management or a comparable role.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Capacity to work effectively under pressure in a humanitarian setting.
