Advocacy & Communications Coordinator (Re‑advertisement)

About the role

The Advocacy and Communications Coordinator will support the Danish Refugee Council’s Syria Country Office in positioning DRC as a trusted humanitarian and development actor. Working on strategic advocacy and communications, the role aims to influence decision‑makers, donors and partners on displacement‑related policies and programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess strategic advocacy and communications opportunities within Syria and the broader regional context.
• Develop clear, evidence‑based messaging and communication materials that reflect DRC’s expertise in displacement and humanitarian response.
• Guide DRC’s strategic positioning by contributing to policy analysis, briefing notes and advocacy strategies.
• Design, coordinate and monitor advocacy campaigns, media engagements and stakeholder outreach activities.
• Collaborate with programme teams, partners and external networks to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with humanitarian objectives.
• Track and report on advocacy outcomes, trends and impact indicators.

Required profile

• Proven experience in advocacy, communications or public affairs, preferably within humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong understanding of displacement dynamics, protection issues and the Syrian context.
• Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills, with ability to translate complex data into compelling messages.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with government officials, donors, NGOs and media.
• Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
