Cafeteria Worker I – Part-time (4 hrs/day)

About the role

Under the supervision of a manager or field supervisor, the Cafeteria Worker I assists with food production, service, and kitchen cleaning at John T. Baker Middle School. This entry‑level position provides on‑the‑job training in basic cafeteria operations and follows strict food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to daily menus.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and facilities.
• Handle and move food items and supplies weighing 40‑60 lb.
• Operate commercial food‑service equipment safely.
• Follow HACCP guidelines from receiving to service.
• Assist with inventory gathering and recipe preparation.

Required profile

• Completion of ninth grade; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform sustained moderate physical effort and stand for long periods.
• Valid Class C non‑commercial driver’s license.
• Sanitation certification (or obtain within six months of hire).

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic food production and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Effective communication with students, staff, and community members.
