Data Specialist

About the role

The Data Specialist will work within the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Damascus, supporting the implementation of data‑driven solutions for the UN development agenda. Reporting to the Head of the Resident Coordinator Office, the role focuses on building robust data systems that enhance statistical efficiency and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems and data analytics to optimise statistical efficiency and quality.
• Identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns using statistical methods on structured and unstructured data sources.
• Develop reporting, quality control capabilities and locate new data analysis process improvement opportunities.
• Support the development of monitoring, evaluation and learning products for UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks using UN‑approved indicators, Power BI and other tools.
• Collaborate with internal data engineers, scientists, owners and external UN agencies, funds, programmes and NGOs to exchange information and best practices.

• Based in Damascus, Syria.
