Finance Officer – Budgeting & Reporting (Damascus)

About the role

The Finance Officer will lead budgeting, financial reporting and spending analysis for IRC programmes in Damascus, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and internal policies. This position supports the organization’s response to the complex humanitarian crisis in Syria.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee grant budgeting, monitor expenditures and reconcile financial statements.
• Prepare regular financial reports for donors, senior management and program teams.
• Conduct spending analysis to identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure donor compliance by maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to reporting timelines.
• Collaborate with program staff to align financial plans with operational needs.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required financial data and explanations.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field.
• Proven experience in financial management, preferably within humanitarian or non‑profit organizations.
• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure in a volatile environment.
