Health & Nutrition Officer, NO-2 (Fixed Term)

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting a Health & Nutrition Officer (NO-2) for a fixed-term appointment in Qamishli, Syria. The officer provides professional technical assistance and support for the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration of Health & Nutrition programme and project activities, including data analysis, progress reporting, knowledge networking and capacity building.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely information and data analysis to support situation analysis, sectoral input and reporting
• Support integrated Health & Nutrition strategies through collaboration with internal and external partners
• Ensure work plans and objectives are set and results delivered through technical support and coordination
• Monitor project progress and follow up on implementation to improve delivery and sustainability
• Provide gender/sex-disaggregated data and ensure transparency in supply and non-supply assistance and fund disbursement
• Maintain effective partnerships for advocacy, technical coordination and information sharing
• Keep programme information up to date, prepare reports and share them with stakeholders
• Maintain emergency preparedness and coordinate emergency responses in line with the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action and IASC partnerships

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Public Health, Nutrition, Child Development, Social or Community Development or a related field
• Minimum two years of professional experience in planning, programming, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health programmes, or in programme management or technical expert roles in child survival and health care
• Fluency in English and Arabic
• Desirable: Kurdish or another official UN language, developing country, field or emergency response experience, and relevant country-level experience
