Arabic Written Content Coordinator

About the role

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), an independent humanitarian organisation based in Damascus, is recruiting an Arabic Written Content Coordinator for its Media Unit. The role produces well-researched content for online publication and printed materials, reporting to the Written Content Senior Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Follow up the implementation of content processes with the branches
• Cooperate with the audiovisual team, the writing team and the content editor
• Follow an editorial calendar to deliver materials on time
• Develop content for social media, the website and videos, and write news, press releases and humanitarian stories
• Plan and run SEO tasks and research top SEO content topics
• Quality-check content against brand editorial guidelines and check written material from the branches
• Prepare project performance reports and the official statement for the president
• Take part in media and digital campaign ideas, and build capacity for branch editors
• Carry out field visits, collect information and conduct interviews

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Media, Journalism or a related field
• At least two years of experience in content writing and digital platform content editing
• Experience researching using multiple sources and familiarity with web publication techniques
• Familiarity with SARC services

Required skills

• Excellent writing and editing skills in Arabic
• Proficiency with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Familiarity with branding tools, MS Office or Google Suite
• Ability to work independently, handle several projects at once and adapt to flexible shifts including weekends and evenings
