Cancer Treatment Protocols Expert

About the role

NTU International is recruiting a Key Expert – Cancer Treatment Protocols Expert (Cat. II) for an EU‑funded technical assistance project with the Syrian Ministry of Health. The role supports the development, harmonisation and implementation of evidence‑based systemic anti‑cancer therapy protocols, focusing on chemotherapy, medication safety, pharmacovigilance and clinical quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and harmonise national or institutional systemic anti‑cancer therapy protocols, especially chemotherapy regimens.
• Facilitate consensus among clinical stakeholders on standardised, evidence‑based treatment pathways.
• Strengthen pharmacovigilance and medication‑safety systems, including adverse‑event reporting and dose‑verification procedures.
• Design and deliver structured clinical training programmes for oncology teams on protocol implementation, treatment sequencing and toxicity management.
• Create monitoring and evaluation tools to track treatment adherence, clinical outcomes and safety indicators across multiple oncology centres.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent specialisation in Clinical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Haematology‑Oncology or Clinical Pharmacology.
• Minimum 10 years of clinical or technical experience in medical oncology, with substantial experience in protocol development or revision.
• Familiarity with international treatment guidelines (WHO EMLc, NCCN, ESMO) and adaptation to resource‑constrained or fragile health systems.
• Prior experience supporting ministries of health or national cancer‑control programmes in post‑conflict or early‑recovery contexts is strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken English; working knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.
