About the role
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Syria is seeking a reliable Driver to support the safe transport of staff, cargo and official documents across Damascus and surrounding areas.
Key responsibilities
- Drive vehicles safely for personnel transport, general cargo, and specialized hazardous goods.
- Deliver parcels, documents and other items between UN offices, ministries, embassies and other institutions.
- Make minor purchases, collect urgent supplies from local vendors and handle customs formalities.
- Meet officials at the airport and assist with immigration and customs procedures.
- Maintain assigned vehicles – check oil, water, battery, brakes, perform minor repairs and keep the vehicle clean.
- Log trips, mileage, fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance activities.
- Follow accident‑reporting procedures and ensure compliance with security and safety regulations.
- Assist in data collection, preparation of reports and updating informational material such as web pages or brochures.
Required profile
- Professionalism with thorough knowledge of driving rules, local road conditions and security awareness.
- Ability to interact tactfully with officials, visitors and senior staff.
- Good judgment, punctuality and the capacity to work under pressure.
- Commitment to gender equality and UN values.
