Follow-Up Engineer - Water & Sanitation Projects

About the role

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is recruiting a Follow-Up Engineer for its Idlib branch, within the Water & Rehabilitation Department. The post ensures effective planning, monitoring and follow-up of water and sanitation projects in the governorate, coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring compliance with technical standards, timelines and programme objectives. Key responsibilities

• Plan and monitor water and sanitation activities, including joint activities with water institutions, shelters and other projects, together with the team leader, sector coordinator and project officers.
• Help develop activities and prepare budgets in line with programme objectives.
• Follow up engineering and technical tasks with the water project coordinator and project officers.
• Supervise works carried out by partners or contractors and prepare periodic progress reports on work stages and achievements.
• Prepare technical reports on completed projects and support the monthly or other periodic reports required by the head office.
• Take part in project handovers, ensuring quality and compliance with technical specifications, with engineers and volunteers.
• Carry out field visits when needed to monitor progress and assess performance.
• Maintain close coordination with all relevant stakeholders and keep all information confidential and accurate.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; a higher academic degree is an added value.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in coordination and planning; experience in similar volunteer-based or humanitarian organisations is preferred.
• Ability to design, manage and supervise projects and monitor field activities.
• Fluent spoken and written English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of strategic planning and thinking.
• Good use of Microsoft Office and communication platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom.
• Good use of AutoCAD and other engineering programmes.
