Cost Control Engineer

About the role

The Cost Control Engineer coordinates cost capturing, monitoring and forecasting for assigned projects, with proper documentation. They deliver the full suite of cost-control services and financial support, maintain project cost information and, together with the Project Controls Lead, oversee variations and revisions to existing budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, control and report on projects by cost history and forecast, and maintain planned and actual cost and commitment schedules.
• Maintain internal labour and project costs against the allocated budget and flag deviations to project management.
• Create budget transfer requests as directed by project teams, with feedback on alternative construction methods; keep corrections under 10% at final approval.
• Process and approve MR, PO, S/C Agreement, PC, SRV and SIV within 10 working hours of creation.
• Develop cost structures for all activities, verify cost allocations to cost codes daily and reassign them within 10 working hours.
• Visit sites at least once a week to verify progress measurements and upload verified BCWP to the ERP system within 1 day of the cut-off date.
• Produce the Weekly Job Cost Report within 3 days of the week's end and assist with the Monthly Job Cost Report within 15 days.
• Analyse costs, advise management on cost over-runs and work with computerised databases to manage deviations.
• Review client invoices and calculate over/under-invoicing variances within 3 days of month-end.
• Ensure timely invoicing, adhere to safety, quality, health and environmental procedures, and support HSE initiatives and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering.
• Professional degree in MMUP and Engineer Registration (UPDA).

Required skills

• SAP functional knowledge is required.
• MS Project and Primavera P6 scheduling.
• Project cost planning, scheduling and reporting.
• Quality management system knowledge.
• Knowledge of cost control packages such as CCS (Candy) is an advantage.
