Head of Business Development – Syria

About the role

We are looking for a commercially focused Head of Business Development to launch NymCard’s payments infrastructure platform in Syria. As the first in‑market commercial lead you will shape the go‑to‑market strategy, engage the Central Bank, commercial lenders, telcos and digital banking startups, and build a pipeline from zero.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle in a greenfield market, from prospecting to contract negotiation and closure.
• Design and execute NymCard’s go‑to‑market strategy for Syria, prioritising target institutions.
• Develop and maintain a qualified pipeline across commercial banks, the Central Bank of Syria, MFIs, payment firms, telcos and digital banks.
• Establish executive relationships with decision‑makers in the reforming Syrian banking sector.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk and Legal to navigate sanctions‑adjacent issues, correspondent‑banking constraints and evolving AML/CFT requirements.
• Represent NymCard at reconstruction, banking and investment forums focused on Syria and the Levant.
• Provide on‑the‑ground market intelligence on regulatory shifts, competitor activity and client needs.
• Report pipeline and performance metrics to the Chief Business Officer using CRM tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in market entry or business development within financial services or fintech.
• Strong commercial judgment and ability to operate in a complex regulatory environment.
• Track record of building pipelines and closing high‑value deals with banks, telcos or digital finance players.
• Excellent C‑suite communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver results in a fast‑moving, data‑driven culture.
