Health Coordinator with IFRC

About the role

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is recruiting a Health Coordinator based in Damascus (Abou Remmaneh) for the Syria Delegation of the IFRC MENA Regional Office. The role oversees the management, coordination and strategic direction of health and care support programs for SARC, strengthening resilient and sustainable health and care systems. It reports to the Head of Delegation, Syria, with a technical reporting line to the MENA Regional Health and Care thematic lead.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all IFRC health and care programmes and give technical guidance to SARC's Health department, working with senior and mid-level management to implement them effectively.
• Prioritize emergency preparedness, health program development and adherence to IFRC standards, integrating Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) principles into health initiatives.
• Coordinate technical assistance from Movement Partners on epidemic preparedness, community health and health systems strengthening.
• Act as the primary health and care focal point for IFRC in Syria, representing the organization in health-related discussions internally and externally and coordinating support with Movement and external partners, especially during emergencies.
• Oversee budgets under the IFRC Unified Plan and Emergency Appeals.
• Lead planning and development of Health program budgets with national society technical and program teams, and ensure transparent, accountable use of funds.
• Track financial transactions, prepare and submit financial reports and budget forecasts, and support budget revisions, proposals and financial risk assessments.
• Build the capacity of Health staff on budget management, financial accountability and compliance with procurement and financial guidelines.
