Information and Evidence Officer

About the role

The Information and Evidence Officer will lead eDiscovery projects and support the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism in investigating serious crimes in Syria. The role is based in Damascus and reports to the Chief of the Information Systems Management Section.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy, planning and implementation of complex eDiscovery projects, including technical design, evidence system population and forensic data analysis.
• Manage, mentor and develop a team of information and evidence officers, overseeing workloads, training and compliance with evidence handling standards.
• Provide expert advice on system design, develop technical documentation and SOPs, and act as administrator of eDiscovery tools.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master's) in information science, computer science, law or related field (or equivalent combination of degree and experience).
• Minimum seven years of progressive experience in information management, with at least five years in eDiscovery and prior legal industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience in electronic evidence acquisition, chain‑of‑custody handling, litigation project management and international criminal law.

Required skills

• eDiscovery platforms and the eDiscovery Reference Model (EDRM).
• Scripting languages: Python, JavaScript, Ruby, T‑SQL, VB.
• Certifications or experience with Nuix, EnCase, mobile forensics and data‑protection tools.
• Agile project management methodologies.
