Long-Term Substitute Teacher (Grade 5) – Full-Time

About the role

Clearspring Elementary School is seeking a dedicated long‑term substitute teacher for Grade 5. Working under the direction of the principal, you will create and deliver engaging learning experiences that support the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and adapt instructional activities aligned with MCPS curriculum standards.
• Supervise students across various school settings and monitor classroom behavior.
• Assess and evaluate student progress, maintaining accurate records of outcomes.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, staff, and the broader community.
• Develop and modify lesson plans and materials to meet diverse learner needs.
• Ensure proper use and care of classroom equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Attend required school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional hours as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Required profile

• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, policies, and effective instructional practices.
• Understanding of the teaching‑learning process and multicultural education.
• Ability to integrate technology into curriculum.
• Strong collaboration skills with administrators, colleagues, central office staff, students, parents, and community members.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System and Supporting Services Professional Growth System standards.
