MEAL Casual Worker – Hama

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Syria is looking for a MEAL casual worker in Hama, Syria. The role covers monitoring, data collection and archiving for needs assessments and monitoring activities across DRC's northern areas of operation (Aleppo, Hama, Homs, Idleb). It is a 6-month contract at casual-worker salary level, starting as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out quantitative and qualitative data collection in the field for needs assessments and monitoring
• Support data entry (e.g. KOBO) and data cleaning
• Perform other MEAL tasks requested by the Area Manager and MEAL Officer
• Archive hard-copy and electronic documents used during implementation
• Attend trainings on survey content and data collection methodology
• Coordinate regularly with the Programme departments of the North Area Office on data collection work plans and priorities
• Ensure activities comply with DRC accountability principles and contribute to raising awareness of the Community Feedback Mechanism

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in data collection and cleaning
• University or technical institute degree in economics, administration, business management, finance, international relations, development studies, computer science or another field with years of relevant experience
• Fluent Arabic, written and spoken; good written English
• Experience developing M&E tools and excellent report writing skills
• Willingness to adapt work practices and hours and to work in an insecure environment

Required skills

• Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, Teams)
• Data collection and cleaning, data entry (KOBO)
• Good interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural setting
