Operations and Information Technology (IT) Officer

About the role

The Operations and Information Technology (IT) Officer will be based in Damascus and will provide first‑line IT support, strengthen cybersecurity practices, manage IT assets and inventory, and assist with procurement of IT equipment across programme locations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support for hardware, software, connectivity, printers, peripherals and user accounts.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues remotely and coordinate escalation when needed.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and access rights in line with organisational policies.
• Install, configure and maintain computers, software, printers and other IT equipment.
• Oversee inventory tracking, maintenance and lifecycle management of all IT assets.
• Configure new workstations, map printers and train staff on effective use of office IT equipment.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, software updates, licensing and IT service schedules.
• Develop user guides, quick‑reference materials and awareness resources for secure IT use.

Required profile

• Proven experience in first‑line IT support within an operational environment.
• Familiarity with basic cybersecurity awareness and digital security practices.
• Ability to manage IT asset inventories and coordinate with vendors.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and capacity to work under donor‑compliant procedures.
