Peaceful Coexistence and Peacebuilding Advisor

About the role

The Peaceful Coexistence and Peacebuilding Advisor will support ACU’s inclusive community project by fostering dialogue, empowering youth, and facilitating the reintegration of returnees, displaced persons and host communities across Aleppo, Hama and Homs. This role focuses on designing and leading unconventional dialogue sessions in public spaces and promoting cooperative community initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a culture of community dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
• Empower youth to design, plan and lead unconventional dialogue sessions in cafés, workshops and other public venues.
• Implement community initiatives that encourage cooperation, positive interaction and trust among diverse groups.
• Support the reintegration of returnees, displaced persons and host communities through targeted activities.
• Coordinate project activities across Aleppo, Hama and Homs, ensuring regular monitoring and reporting.
• Document best practices and lessons learned to inform future peacebuilding efforts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community dialogue, peacebuilding or youth‑focused projects.
• Familiarity with the Syrian context and the challenges faced by returnees and displaced populations.
• Ability to travel regularly between Aleppo, Hama and Homs.
• Strong facilitation and community‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
