Protection Officer – Case Management

About the role

The Protection Case Management Officer is responsible for delivering high‑quality protection case management to persons at heightened risk in Al Quneitra, Syria. Working under the guidance of the Protection Team Leader, the role supports vulnerable individuals and families through comprehensive assessments, safety planning and referrals.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and receive referrals, conduct intake, risk assessment, action planning and case follow‑up in line with DRC SOPs.
• Conduct household visits and centre‑based interviews to assess needs and provide information on rights and entitlements.
• Maintain up‑to‑date service mapping and referral pathways with local NGOs, CBOs and public service providers.
• Document cases accurately in the management database, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
• Advocate on behalf of clients to access services and represent their views in relevant meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in social work, counselling or related fields.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse groups and maintain client confidentiality.
• Experience coordinating with local NGOs, community‑based organisations or public service providers.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or a related discipline.
• Fluent spoken and written Arabic; working knowledge of English preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
