Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant performs professional accounting work involving the compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data. The role covers ledgers and journal entries, fixed asset or inventory accounting, trial balances and financial statements, cost accounting and bank reconciliations, and provides daily financial oversight so that records are complete, accurate and compliant with GAAP and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Apply accounting techniques to classify and record financial transactions and handle transactions within approved limits.
• Assist the supervisor in preparing MIS reports, budgets and forecasts, and develop, maintain and analyse budgets comparing budgeted to actual costs.
• Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues and commitments to project future revenues and expenses.
• Prepare, examine and analyse accounting records and financial statements, and perform internal audits of accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and cash.
• Maintain chart of accounts, record entries correctly and ensure data is accurate, timely and available in real time.
• Evaluate and inventory real property and equipment, recording description, value and location.
• Develop, implement and document accounting systems using current computer technology.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounts and Finance.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification.
• In-depth, demonstrable experience in financial management and accounting.

Required skills

• Excellent knowledge of financial processes and GAAP.
• Sound understanding of the month-end process and knowledge of financial markets and banking.
• Knowledge of the latest accounting tools and software.
• ERP knowledge; SAP functional skills are required.
