Part-Time Accountant (Hybrid, Damascus)

About the role

VERTEX Enterprise Solutions offers integrated HR, finance, operational and retail solutions, including payroll, financial operations, compliance, reporting, ERP and retail analytics. It is hiring a part-time Accountant for a hybrid position based in Damascus, with the option to work from home on some days. The Accountant manages day-to-day bookkeeping and supports finance and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Record journal entries, reconcile accounts and maintain accurate financial records
• Prepare financial statements and reports
• Support payroll and expense processing
• Assist with budgeting and forecasts
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and local regulations
• Support audits and maintain documentation
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, including general ledger management, account reconciliation and financial reporting
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis in a corporate or professional services environment
• Understanding of tax and regulatory requirements for corporate accounting and payroll
• Attention to detail, organization and ability to prioritize in a part-time schedule
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and to work independently in a hybrid setting
• Prior experience in HR, ERP or retail-related finance is an advantage
