Senior Livestock Expert

About the role

The Senior Livestock Expert will lead and coordinate the livestock team at the FAO Country Office in Syria, providing high‑level technical and strategic guidance to improve livestock production, strengthen animal health, and support market‑oriented livestock value chains.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of project proposals and interventions related to livestock.
• Design and implement livestock‑related interventions across the value chain.
• Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance to enhance livestock production and animal health.
• Coordinate with project managers, emergency and resilience managers, technical teams, and field staff.
• Support policy and strategic initiatives for livestock sector transformation.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in livestock production, animal health, and market‑oriented value chains.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary livestock teams.
• Experience working in international development or UN contexts is desirable.
