Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Phosphate Mining

About the role

UCC Holding is looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead its large‑scale phosphate mining operation in Syria. This senior executive role will oversee the full mining value chain, from exploration through production, ensuring operational excellence and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end phosphate mining business, covering exploration, resource development, mine planning, extraction, beneficiation, processing, logistics and production.
• Oversee exploration programs and drive reserve growth and resource optimization.
• Manage mining, beneficiation, processing, maintenance and logistics operations to meet production targets.
• Drive HSE performance, cost efficiency and continuous operational improvement.
• Support expansion projects and long‑term strategic initiatives.
• Build, mentor and develop high‑performing multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• 20+ years of experience in phosphate mining, with a proven track record in senior leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale mining assets and drive production growth.
• Strong background in exploration, resource development, mine planning, beneficiation and phosphate production.
• Experience in operational leadership, cost optimisation and sustainable development.
• Arabic language skills are preferred.
