Civil Engineer

About the role

The Civil Engineer will lead the delivery of high‑quality infrastructure projects by providing technical expertise, supervising works, and ensuring compliance with design, safety and UNOPS standards. The role supports the Project Manager in coordinating design, construction and procurement activities from planning through handover.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and manage civil engineering projects from design to completion, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets and quality standards.
• Assist the Project Manager with scheduling, progress reporting and project closure activities.
• Liaise with government authorities, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to obtain permits and maintain strong relationships.
• Review design briefs, technical documentation, bills of quantity and cost estimates for compliance with international and UNOPS guidelines.
• Conduct on‑site technical assessments, inspections and quality checks to verify that construction work meets specifications.
• Monitor performance tracking systems, identify potential delays or cost overruns, and support valuation of work for payment certificates.
• Ensure full compliance with HSSE policies, environmental safeguards and PSEAH standards, and mitigate related risks.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing and supervising civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical expertise in civil engineering design and construction management.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, maintain transparency and uphold integrity.
• Familiarity with UNOPS guidelines, HSSE regulations and PSEAH requirements.
