ELP Teacher – Empowered Learning Program

About the role

The ELP Teacher will deliver high‑quality, learner‑centered education to out‑of‑school children and adolescents under the Empowered Learning Program (ELP) approved by the Syrian Ministry of Education. Working on site in Raqqa, you will help improve academic and psychosocial outcomes through inclusive, child‑friendly teaching methods.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ELP sessions following approved curricula, lesson plans and project schedules.
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom that encourages active participation.
• Apply learner‑centered, competency‑based teaching methodologies and adapt them to diverse learning needs.
• Prepare daily and weekly lesson plans aligned with program objectives.
• Conduct baseline, formative and end‑of‑cycle assessments and maintain accurate attendance and performance records.
• Promote respect, inclusion and positive discipline while ensuring child safeguarding and PSEA compliance.
• Collaborate with Teacher Specialists, the Education Coordinator and other project staff to enhance educational quality.
• Engage with parents and caregivers to support attendance and learning.

Required profile

• Experience teaching out‑of‑school children or adolescents.
• Familiarity with competency‑based, learner‑centered methodologies.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to diverse learning needs.
• Strong record‑keeping and reporting skills.
• Commitment to child protection and safeguarding policies.
