Human Resources Officer (Professional)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Human Resources Officer to support its Country Office in Damascus. The role will operate under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Head of Resources Management, collaborating closely with regional and headquarters HR units.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day HR operations for the Country Office, including recruitment, onboarding, and staff administration.
• Ensure compliance with IOM policies, UN regulations, and Syrian labor legislation.
• Support performance management, staff development, and grievance handling.
• Coordinate with the MENA Regional Office and Global Shared Services Center on HR initiatives and reporting.
• Maintain accurate HR records and contribute to workforce planning.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in HR management.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and with UN/International agencies.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
