Senior Backend Engineer (PHP)

About the role

Toters is an on‑demand e‑commerce and delivery platform looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design and implementation of high‑performance services. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to turn business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own new backend features while ensuring scalability and performance.
• Maintain and improve existing services built with PHP/Laravel and related technologies.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering standards, and ensure code quality.
• Participate in business requirement reviews, assess technical complexity, risks, and impact.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, evaluate progress, and help define development plans.
• Explore and introduce new tools or frameworks to boost team productivity.
• Identify and implement improvements in frameworks, tools, and processes.
• Contribute to roadmap definition and architectural discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience, including at least 3 years with Laravel.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable, secure, and performant products.
• Hands‑on coder with deep knowledge of OOP, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
