Social Behavior Change (SBC) Educator

About the role

The Social Behavior Change (SBC) Educator will lead health awareness campaigns across Latakia and surrounding districts, visiting homes, schools, and community gathering places to promote preventive health practices.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing awareness campaigns at centers and public facilities such as schools and community venues.
• Serve as the primary link between beneficiaries and the services offered at the health center.
• Perform sensitivity assessments, identify cases based on predefined criteria, and tailor messages to individual needs.
• Manage case files, ensure privacy protocols, make internal and external referrals, and keep records secure with the health officer.
• Provide preventive health guidance on reproductive health, nutrition, early breast‑cancer detection, personal hygiene, tooth cleaning, and vaccination.
• Advise community groups on screening services (cancer, pap smear, glaucoma, diabetes) and deliver training for pregnant women and children.
• Carry out family‑planning services, health‑hygiene incentives, infectious‑disease screening, health education, data collection, and first‑aid support.
• Visit service providers to verify effective implementation of interventions and produce weekly/monthly activity reports.

Required profile

• Formal university degree or diploma.
• Knowledge or experience in community health development is preferred.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines.
• Experience working in community health, nutrition, or related health interventions.
• Previous NGO experience in a similar context is a plus.
• Understanding of community‑based health promotion, social‑behavior change approaches, community engagement, and referral mechanisms.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
