Maternal and Child Health Expert

About the role

The Key Expert – Maternal and Child Health will provide strategic and technical support to the Syrian Ministry of Health, strengthening maternal and child health services, nutrition programming, and health system governance in a humanitarian and early‑recovery context.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on policy and programme development for maternal and child health and nutrition, ensuring evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Review and improve technical programme designs, theories of change, and implementation plans for large‑scale, multi‑partner initiatives.
• Support capacity building of Ministry staff and government counterparts, fostering accountability and sustainable performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in public health, development or nutrition, with a focus on health‑system strengthening in Syria.
• 3–5 years in a senior technical role delivering strategic guidance for large‑scale nutrition or health programmes.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder‑engagement and cultural‑sensitivity skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
