Maternal and Child Health Expert

About the role

The Key Expert – Maternal and Child Health will provide strategic and technical support to the Syrian Ministry of Health, strengthening maternal and child health services, nutrition programming, and health system governance in a humanitarian and early‑recovery context.

Key responsibilities

• Offer strategic guidance for large‑scale, multi‑partner nutrition and health programmes, ensuring evidence‑based policy development.
• Review and improve technical programme designs, theories of change, and implementation plans.
• Support capacity building for ministry staff and government counterparts, fostering accountability and sustainable performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in development, public health, or nutrition, with a focus on health systems strengthening in Syria.
• 3–5 years in a senior technical role providing strategic guidance for large‑scale, multi‑partner programmes.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder engagement, and cultural sensitivity skills.
• Fluent English (mandatory); Arabic proficiency considered an asset.
