MHPSS Worker (Female)

About the role

The Independent Doctors Association is seeking a qualified female Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Worker to join its team in the Northern Deir al‑Zor countryside, based at the Abo Khashab Primary Health Center. The role focuses on delivering psychosocial support, conducting awareness sessions and coordinating care plans for individuals affected by conflict‑related trauma.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group MHPSS sessions and deliver key mental health messages.
• Introduce clients to relevant centres and programmes, and provide protection‑related awareness.
• Develop, monitor and update individualized care and safety plans in collaboration with clients and families.
• Set short‑ and long‑term case‑planning goals, addressing family stability and safety concerns.
• Coordinate referrals to social services and act as an advocate for clients throughout the care pathway.
• Maintain comprehensive client files, clinical review sheets and regular reporting to senior management.
• Contribute to donor and internal reports and ensure compliance with code of conduct and child‑protection policies.

Required profile

• University degree in health, mental health, social sciences or a related field, or at least five years of relevant experience.
• Minimum one year of experience implementing protection, gender‑based violence or social‑work programmes in humanitarian settings.
• Experience or training in mental health and psychosocial support services is preferred.
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic; English proficiency is an advantage.
