Operation Technician

About the role

The Independent Doctors Association (IDA) is seeking an Operation Technician to support surgical services at Dr. Mohamad Wasim Maaz Hospital in the Northern Aleppo countryside. The role involves preparing and maintaining operating rooms, assisting surgeons, and ensuring strict hygiene and safety standards in a humanitarian healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare operation rooms and equip them with required sets and materials before each surgery.
• Assist surgeons by providing sutures, sets, needles, gauze, and other necessary supplies during procedures.
• Count and document surgical supplies before, during, and after operations.
• Maintain operating‑room hygiene, sterilization, and overall cleanliness.
• Operate medical devices, report any malfunctions, and ensure proper usage.
• Handle and label samples/biopsies for laboratory analysis.
• Record patient information in the registration book for statistical purposes.
• Assist with patient transfer post‑operation and follow safety protocols.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the surgeon or medical coordinator.

Required profile

• Certificate from an Institute or College of Nursing as an Operations Technician.
• Minimum three years of experience working as an OT Technician in a hospital setting.
• Commitment to humanitarian principles, protection standards, and organizational codes of conduct.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot medical devices.
