Finance Manager - Syria Mission

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is recruiting a Finance Manager for its Syria mission. The role holder sets up finance according to NRC standards and supports programme and project implementation. The position is based in Damascus, Syria, on a 12-month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Financial Handbook, NRC policies, donor and auditor requirements
• Implement financial systems, routines and procedures
• Control budgets and monitor cash flow
• Line manage staff and train them on financial responsibilities
• Provide financial reporting and analysis
• Implement the anti-corruption policy

Required profile

• Senior financial management experience in a humanitarian or recovery context
• Expertise in cash-based interventions and financial service provider assessments
• Track record developing financial systems and structures, especially during change management
• Exposure to start-ups, change management, exit or emergency response
• Knowledge of the Syria context and experience in complex, volatile settings
• Fluent written and spoken English

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer software and modern accounting systems
• Budget control and financial reporting
