Head of Trade Finance Operations

About the role

QNB, established in 1964 as the first Qatari-owned commercial bank and now the largest bank in the Middle East and Africa, is hiring a Head of Trade Finance Operations for QNB Syria. The incumbent oversees Trade Operations covering import and export letters of credit, guarantees and bills for collection, sets standards, manages Trade Finance Officers and ensures high-quality, timely service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee trade finance activities (import/export LCs, guarantees, bills for collection, import/export financing) and supervise bills processing staff so that work complies with ICBC rules, bank policies and credit lines.
• Support customers' queries, maintain SLAs with internal departments and liaise with correspondent banks.
• Review customer applications, process documents at each stage, forward funding requests to the Funding Section and follow up overdue bills.
• Provide technical advice and organise training seminars for prime customers on fraud and money laundering prevention.
• Prepare and submit reports to Senior Management on workflow and revenue, coordinate with QNB Head Office on foreign trade transactions and control record keeping.
• Support the Corporate Banking Team and promote cost efficiency and productivity.
• Comply with legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements (AML/CTF, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, whistleblowing, conflict of interest), act under the Three Lines of Defence and complete mandatory training.
