Maternal and Child Health Expert

About the role

The Key Expert – Maternal and Child Health Expert will provide strategic and technical support to the Syrian Ministry of Health, strengthening maternal and child health services, nutrition programming, health systems and evidence‑based policy development in a humanitarian and early‑recovery context.

Key responsibilities

• Support institutional strengthening and governance capacities of the Ministry of Health.
• Provide strategic guidance for large‑scale, multi‑partner nutrition and health programmes.
• Translate evidence into policy and programme decisions and review technical designs, theories of change and implementation plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Nutrition, Maternal and Child Health or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in development, public health or nutrition, with focus on health systems strengthening in Syria.
• 3–5 years in a senior technical role providing strategic guidance for large‑scale programmes.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder engagement and cultural sensitivity.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
