Nutritionist – Lattakia, Syria

About the role

The Nutritionist will join MedGlobal’s Nutrition Team in Lattakia, Syria, delivering essential nutrition interventions during emergency situations. The role includes conducting nutritional assessments, distributing therapeutic foods, maintaining accurate records, and providing training to staff and community health workers to combat malnutrition among vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct nutritional surveys of children and pregnant or lactating women across primary health centers and mobile clinics.
• Detect and classify malnutrition cases in children under five and pregnant/lactating women.
• Admit identified individuals to the malnutrition program according to established protocols.
• Distribute therapeutic foods, monitor usage, and ensure proper storage.
• Maintain detailed records of assessments, admissions, and food distributions.
• Provide training and technical support to community health workers and team members.
• Coordinate with the Facility Administrator to align program activities.
• Travel to multiple PHC sites and mobile clinics in the region as needed.
• Ensure compliance with humanitarian nutrition standards and prepare reports for donors and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Ability to conduct field‑based nutritional surveys and screenings.
• Experience detecting and managing malnutrition cases.
• Capability to oversee admissions to nutrition programs and maintain accurate documentation.
