Structural Engineer

About the role

This position offers a unique opportunity to apply core structural engineering principles within a humanitarian and development context, supporting critical infrastructure projects in Syria. The engineer will gather and analyse data, interpret standards, and work closely with project specialists to ensure high‑quality construction outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse structural components for water supply and irrigation projects, including pumping stations, storage facilities, foundations, reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Prepare and review design briefs, calculations, specifications, bar‑bending schedules and other project documentation to meet quality standards.
• Conduct rudimentary analysis of structural parameters and identify appropriate technologies for project designs.
• Perform site inspections, assessments and produce related reports.
• Support the development of QA/QC procedures and monitor delivery of design documents.
• Coordinate with architectural, design engineering and quantity surveying teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Provide inputs for technical reports, briefs and other documentation for senior review.

Required profile

• Experience in structural design and analysis for water‑related infrastructure.
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete and steel structure design principles.
• Familiarity with international standards and codes of practice.
• Ability to conduct site inspections and prepare technical reports.
• Experience supporting QA/QC processes in construction projects.
