Technical Adviser – Humanitarian Mine Action

About the role

DanChurchAid is seeking an experienced Technical Adviser to lead and supervise humanitarian mine action activities across Raqqa, Al‑Hasakah and Aleppo. The role provides technical oversight, ensures compliance with national and international standards, and supports integrated programming within the wider humanitarian response.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure field operations meet national mine action standards, IMAS, DCA SOPs and accreditation requirements.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical supervision to clearance teams, identify deficiencies and trigger corrective actions.
• Oversee NTS, MMC, BAC, TS, EOD and IEDD activities, applying evidence‑based land‑release methodologies and personally undertaking EOD/IEDD when required.
• Conduct internal quality assurance, monitor team‑level QC, and suspend unsafe activities.
• Identify training needs, deliver technical training, coaching and competency assessments.
• Provide technical input to SOP development, document lessons learned and support accreditation processes.

Required profile

• Recognised EOD Level 3 and IEDD Level 3 qualifications (or equivalent) with appropriate certification.
• Proven experience in EOD/IEDD operations, clearance and land‑release methodologies (MMC, BAC, Technical Survey).
• Practical knowledge of mechanical clearance and ability to oversee equipment integration.
• Experience supervising, training and mentoring operational personnel in remote, insecure environments.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
