Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant – Programme Support Office

About the role

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will support the Programme Support Office in Damascus, assisting the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with data collection, analysis, and reporting on UNRWA programmes. This position contributes to ensuring that interventions are effective and aligned with agency objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Follow up with programme departments to ensure timely completion of data collection tools and resolve inconsistencies.
• Support research activities, including the development of questionnaires and surveys.
• Assist in designing indicators, targets and benchmarks for monitoring and evaluating programme impact.
• Review and analyse data, preparing summary reports and visualisations.
• Coordinate logistical arrangements for monitoring meetings, surveys and third‑party monitoring.
• Prepare field monitoring tools and draft findings after field visits.
• Support preparation of summary tables, charts or visuals for result interpretation.
• Help Programme Support Office officers compile accurate indicator data for donor reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Successful completion of full secondary education.
• Two‑year diploma from an accredited institution in business administration, social science, operational research, statistics or a related field.
• Familiarity with United Nations system processes is desirable.
