Civil Structural Designer (Data Center)

About the role

The Civil Structural Designer will act as the independent technical reviewer for all civil, structural and architectural deliverables related to data‑center facilities. Reporting to the Project Management Consultant, you will ensure designs are code‑compliant, constructible and aligned with the project brief.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess design submissions from concept to Issued for Construction (IFC) and shop drawings, providing actionable comments within agreed timeframes.
• Evaluate structural packages – foundations, slabs, framing, steel and concrete systems – and verify calculations for accuracy, code compliance and data‑center loading conditions.
• Assess architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, façade details and raised‑floor layouts for functional alignment.
• Review civil works including site grading, drainage, retaining structures and utility trench layouts.
• Confirm that structural and architectural designs accommodate MEP and ICT/ELV requirements such as equipment pads, penetrations and cable‑tray supports.
• Inspect BIM models, verify Level of Development (LOD), and ensure clash detection is resolved before IFC issue.
• Participate in design review meetings, BIM workshops and produce minutes and action trackers.
• Support construction phase by reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and raising non‑conformance records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Architecture.
• 8–12 years of experience in civil, structural and architectural design, preferably on consultancy‑side projects for data‑centers or mission‑critical facilities.
• Strong capability in structural analysis and design, with experience using ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000 or equivalent tools.
• Solid knowledge of international design codes (EN 1990‑1994, EN 1997‑1998) and relevant BS standards.
