Head of Finance

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Head of Finance for its Country Office in Damascus. The role supports the Country Director in delivering transparent, compliant financial management for programmes across Syria, Turkey and Lebanon, contributing to the organization’s mission of zero hunger. The position will start by 1 November 2026 and is based on‑site in Damascus.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure efficient, transparent and auditable financial and administrative processes across the Country Office, projects and partner organisations.
• Provide strategic and operational financial guidance to the Country Office, project teams and partner organisations.
• Advise the Country Director and programme managers on financial planning, budgeting, donor requirements and other financial matters.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, liquidity planning, project accounting, expenditure monitoring and cost allocation, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Lead the Finance and Administration team and ensure compliance with Welthungerhilfe’s internal standards, donor regulations and applicable laws.
• Manage the financial administration and refinancing of the Country Office.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial management of programmes and projects, preferably in an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong knowledge of donor requirements, compliance standards and financial regulations.
• Ability to lead and develop a finance and administration team.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
