MEP Designer – Data Centre Technical Reviewer

About the role

The MEP Designer will act as the PMO’s technical representative for data‑centre projects in Damascus. The role involves independent review of mechanical, electrical and plumbing designs to ensure they are code‑compliant, buildable and aligned with project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Review MEP design submissions at all stages (concept, schematic, detailed, IFC and shop drawings) and provide actionable comments.
• Validate electrical packages – single‑line diagrams, HV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS and generator sizing, cable schedules, earthing and protection studies.
• Assess mechanical packages – cooling load calculations, CRAC/CRAH layouts, chillers, cooling towers, pipework schematics and HVAC ductwork.
• Check fire‑suppression, plumbing and drainage designs for completeness and code compliance.
• Ensure designs meet Tier classification (TIA‑942, Uptime Institute), resilience (N+1, 2N) and PUE targets.
• Coordinate BIM models, verify LOD, conduct clash detection and track open comments.
• Participate in design review meetings, BIM coordination sessions and construction support activities, issuing minutes and action trackers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–12 years of MEP engineering experience in data‑centre environments.

Required skills

• Electrical design review (HV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS, generator sizing).
• Mechanical design review (cooling load, CRAC/CRAH, chillers, cooling towers, pipework, HVAC ductwork).
• Fire‑suppression, plumbing and drainage design knowledge.
• Compliance with TIA‑942, Uptime Institute standards, N+1/2N resilience and PUE targets.
• BIM coordination, LOD modeling and clash detection.
