Palliative Care Expert – Key Expert (Category II)

About the role

NTU International is recruiting a senior Palliative Care Expert to support the EU‑funded Technical Assistance project for the Syrian Ministry of Health. The assignment will strengthen oncology‑related clinical protocols, medication safety, multidisciplinary coordination, clinical training and quality monitoring, with a focus on patient‑centred palliative care integration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and harmonise oncology and palliative‑care clinical protocols, including chemotherapy safety and dose‑verification procedures.
• Design monitoring frameworks and quality indicators for palliative‑care service delivery across multiple oncology centres.
• Lead structured clinical training programmes for physicians, pharmacists and nursing staff on protocol implementation, treatment sequencing and toxicity management.
• Facilitate multidisciplinary technical working groups linking oncology, primary care and nursing directorates.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Palliative Medicine, Nursing or related field; medical degree with specialization in palliative care strongly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of clinical or technical experience in medical oncology, including protocol development and pharmacovigilance.
• Demonstrated familiarity with international cancer treatment guidelines (WHO Essential Medicines List, NCCN, ESMO) and adaptation to resource‑constrained settings.
• Experience working in the MENA region or post‑conflict health systems is a strong asset.
