Head of Information Technology

About the role

Kapitano, a fast‑growing multi‑vendor e‑commerce platform, is looking for a visionary Head of Information Technology to own and scale its entire technical ecosystem. Based in Damascus, this full‑time, on‑site position combines strategic leadership with hands‑on execution across engineering, infrastructure and security.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor web and mobile development teams, establishing clean‑code standards, agile workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Optimize and scale the multi‑vendor platform architecture for high availability, sub‑second page loads and seamless payment‑gateway and API integrations.
• Manage cloud hosting, server uptime, load balancing, DNS routing and database performance across all environments.
• Implement comprehensive IT security protocols, data‑protection standards, vulnerability assessments and secure user‑data management.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and operations to translate business growth goals into robust technical road‑maps.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Engineering Manager, Head of Tech, etc.).
• Proven track record in high‑traffic e‑commerce or marketplace platforms.
• Data‑driven decision‑making and strong project‑management mindset.

Required skills

• Modern web development frameworks.
• Mobile app development for iOS and Android.
• Cloud hosting infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Database design and performance tuning.
• DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• IT security, firewalls, SSL, vulnerability assessment.
